All of the comments here are really kind of sad and mean. That's not what DeviantArt is for guys.
Personally do I believe this should of been a DD, no, but by no fault of the model (except for the right hand on the bottom image, soften it up a bit, it takes away from the fluidity of the rest of the body) . For me the photography is a bit flat and I'm not so into the lighting and composition choices. As an image I see where its going and I really like that, but I don't think that a DD should be chosen by potential of the image but rather the image as a whole.
This in no way is an attack, but seriously Laura, don't even feed the trolls. If you feel that they are wrong, don't even bother. Chances are that they are not professionals, not in the industry, and not really going to affect you in the long run. So don't sweat it.
why would I pay for something I never had any intentions of getting in the first place? Its not a contest you submit to, a photo I uploaded over a year ago randomly got chosen by the person who runs the fetish DD.
Thank you: to those of you who said nice things. I appreciate it Fuck you: to those of you who attempted to matter-of-factually proclaim that this is not "art". Fortunately for the rest of the free world, you dont actually get to make those kinds of concrete declarations, because what is and is not factually art is not up to you. You wanna know why? Because there is no all-encompassing definition of art, there is no black and white ruling as to what is and what is not. Youre free to tell me what you think of my work, youre not free to dictate what it IS and IS NOT, just what you THINK about it. But I can tell many of you didnt do a whole lot of that before typing.
And for those of you who are wondering "why post this image when I have so many other 'better' ones?"... heres the thing.
Deviant Art is not my modelling portfolio. I do not use dA, tumblr, FB, FL, etc etc to book work and try to impress the people I want to work with. Frankly those listed websites are just not set up in such a way that is conducive to the type of networking needed to be terribly useful in terms of my modeling as a job.
What they ARE good for, is putting up with that *I* like, but may not necessarily have a place in my working portfolio. This (and many other) photos probably wont get me a paying gig. Thats fine, thats not why I did them in the first place. I did them for fun. This was made possible by an evening with some dear friends who I enjoy being in the presence of any being a part in the creative processes of. I didnt make this to impress you, to try to sell you on buying prints of me or something, or to try to get hired by anybody. Dont be so full of yourself. I did this for ME. I posted it for ME because I enjoyed it and I like to share my enjoyment with the internet. Thats why I post photos that might not be the best of the best of the best of what Ive done, this is the EXACT place for them to go.
Honestly, I can't understand those who are giving this extreme praise or distate. It is by no means Art and I personally don't like it, however I can respect the effort put forth into making it. Sadly, overall it isn't deserving of being a DD.
You're actually quite wrong there. You're going off the assumption that ancient Romans were the first to construct Art when they were not. There are cave drawings that date several hundred years before the Romans were even concieved.
Like I said I'm leaningeither on this picture. But you obviously don't know what the meaning of the word is, let's give you a refresher course sha'll we? Art noun. The creation of meaningful or beautiful objects through skill and imagination. You're peace is only meaningful and/or beautiful to you therefore I repeat myself it is by no means Art BUT I respect the effort you put into making it.

Can someone from comment section tell me something? Were the probable comments suposed to be a part of the "art" here? Anyways, moving onto image, its nothing that you don't see everyday here for most people. A girl (I think that It's a girl, but who knows? World is weird nowadays.) wearing black boots, tied with rope, or something serving as it, holding... well i can't really see, but seems like... I don't know. I don't get the artism about that. The biggest mystery is why is it on daily deviation. It's nothing deserving one. The piece have no... I don't know... some message, as many people like to do. It's definetly not a photo I like.
Do you believe a deviation of yours should have been given the title of "Daily Deviation" instead? This picture is kind of meh to me. The framing is different but doesn't make much sense excect that the big dark square in top right corner balances out with the other dark areas. The two images together also irk me. I'll usually just go elsewhere when something doesn't interest me; you seem to not like this, but it definitely captures your interest. I don't usually enjoy fetish images--which are always odd (rope, leather, even balloons, etc.)--and almost exclusively sexually themed. I'll just give a quick interpretation: Maybe she's waiting impatiently for the person she's about to be with (she's waiting in front of a door and she seems hesitant to open it), and she's tired doing this kind of stuff with that person. Message: fetishes are tiring and cumbersome. Maybe the first picture is before and the second is after, when she feels guilty. Baddabing, baddaboom. It's good to ask "why?" but I don't think it should be done in a rhetorical way. If you still think this is a total miss by the people selecting the daily deviations, at least it's only one out of a lot of hits.

No, i don't think that my deviations are good enough to get Daily Deviation, because most of them are complete crap, and well if you saw them you will be able to tell that i'm not the perfect, not even good, and not even an real artist. That is, i don't have talent, or something in this design. I just have time... shame that so less of it. Well if the message is so important to you, then why don't you interpretate religious books and paintings? I'm serious, if your point of view is near to mine, and believe me - it's not, then it's going to bring you lots of satisfaction. If you want me to stop talking about religion, then just say, because when i can, i usually do an "overkill". Back to the deviation... You can think of more stories like that until you kick the calendar. I usually try to get the message straight, if i want it to be there, but i got to admit, it's fun to make a riddle out of artwork. And what if i told you that great artists never exist? What if they are not only one person? That history of the whole "world" is fake, and the time is not right? Would you believe me, or you will just say that is too controvertic (i don't know if i spelled that right, but i'm not from US, Canada, UK or other English speaking countries)? Back again... Okay i got to admit that fetishes are kind of a chain near legs and hands, but only because people around knowing about it... unless... unless the fetish involves getting other people hurt, like skinning fetish. Don't ask... too many answers for your stomach probably, but what do i know? So what's your stance?
I think that it is interesting that she is holding the rope, and it not being tied somewhere else. It has an edge because of that and meaning. This is art, not mainstream nonsense. I tip my hat to for this one. You did not show any genitals or anything that would make it porn, but displayed the figure of a woman that is holding the other end of the rope versus someone else having it. I do agree that the hinges take a little bit away from it and I wish that it was a little bit better quality, but hey, if you were perfect, you would be famous somewhere. I look forward to more of your work.
I think the lighting and composition of this piece are lovely. I wish the image was a bit higher quality, but this is in no way undeserving of the DD it received. There was thought put into this piece, and that is obvious to me. It's also a fetish portrait, not a picture of a gazelle for National Geographic. I think it's raw and awesome.
I'm not hating on this piece, but I honestly don't think this deserves a DD. Does this really deserve to be seen more than real art? Seriously? And before somebody tells me to read the faq: we're free to express our disapproval, aren't we? The photo ain't even in high quality, I don't see any composition, and just because there is a good looking girl it doesn't mean this can be called a masterpiece.

it is alright i guess... the whole sexual body language and exposed skin thing sort of makes me cringe, meaning that this piece is to be more sexualized than artistic.. i think the thing that tips the picture off from the sexualized section though is the rope work and high boots, along with nothing too crazy showing and the colour selection shown in this picture
see, its just such a very touchy picture, that people are basically bound to argue about it being sexualized or artistic
although, this isnt my thing, and it really just sort of reminds me of something from a scene to a soon to be sex video in my opinion
i have to give props for tipping the scale a bit, but still, i feel it just needs something a little bit more, it feels as if its just missing one component or something... maybe more props or colour, just..something, but i cant really put my finger on it
